Last time, we talked about EVE: Valkyrie and everything that a game like that means to VR gamers out there (and not only!). Taking a page out of that book, we return with a shortlist of action games that will keep us occupied after the “final” release of Oculus Rift in Q1, 2016.

Synth Riders, because it’s low impact, and doesn’t hurt my shoulder muscles. If I wasn’t having problems with my shoulder muscles, then Powerbeats would be my favorite. I love the game. It’s very simple to play, so very little thinking is required. It’s a punching game similar to BoxVR, which is also a good game as well.

I maintain that the biggest reason is the limited selection of software capable of competing with conventional games, coupled with a general lack of public awareness of the software that is out there.

It’s the game I have played the most, and everyone loves it when they come over to hang out. It’s catchy, and you don’t have to be a gymnast, but it definitely gives you a workout on top of being a lot of fun.

There are a dozen of promising projects, and you can't keep an eye on all of the releases. There's my top-5 list of VR games so far.

Cost. Unless you already have a PS4 Pro (base PS4 does not do well with VR) or a really decent PC, the cost is insane. The cheapest option is the Oculus Quest, it's one device and everything is included but that's £400. If you want to get into PCVR you’re looking at about £1000 to get a fair setup.

Hardly anyone can guarantee their predictions to be 99% correct, but based on current trends and statistics, I would expect virtual and augmented reality technologies in gaming to grow further in the next decades.

First Steps is a VR experience designed to be the entryway to the Oculus Quest. It's pretty much an introduction to what the Virtual Reality Headset and the Touch Controllers are capable of. The tutorial of First Steps will show you the magic of presence in VR and lets you explore moments that feel as real as they are fantastically impossible.
